company before they will release the vehicle.

General Conditions
 PAYMENT
OPTIONS (All rates shown on our website are in Australian Dollars)
RentNewCars is the only company that offers you three online payment
options. Payment is required no later than 72 hours after confirmation
(or 1 day prior to pickup-whichever comes first.) Please select option
1, 2 or 3 during the quote process. Once you receive your confirmation
email there is a link to the Commonwealth Bank secure site
- Option 1: Pay deposit on confirmation and balance
on pickup along with any applicable extras*.
Option 2: Pay full amount on confirmation and any applicable
extras* on pickup.
Option 3: Pay full amount on confirmation including
excess reduction (TPP) and Airport tax. Other Extras* are payable to
depot directly on pickup.
NOTE: Please do not pay any money
to the depots directly PRIOR to your pickup day
*Extras refers to the following which are payable to the depot directly,
all of which are fully disclosed at time of quote. However there is a stamp duty/admin fee of 3% and
credit card surcharge of 1.7%-4.5% applied to all payments made at the depot which wont show in your
total amount.
(Remember you pre pay your rental with Rentnewcars we do not have surcharges however,
some things must be paid directly such as One Way fees, Child seats. )
Example of Extras:
- Airport surcharge at applicable % for each airport (disclosed at
time of quote and can be pre-paid in payment option 3 only)

- Age surcharge of AU$16.50/day if under 25 years (Thrifty only)
- Child seats @ AU$7.70/day to a maximum of AU$77.00/hire Europcar and $5.50/day
maximum AU$33.00 for Thrifty)

PAYMENT
- Europcar - A$350 refundable bond for all standard vehicles and A$1000
for all Prestige Vehicles payable on pickup - credit card required.
- Thrifty - A$385 refundable bond for all vehicles payable on pickup
- credit card required.
DAMAGE
LIABILITY REDUCTION OPTION
- Damage Liability Reduction is an optional premium that reduces your
obligatory damage excess and in most cases reduces excess for tyre,
windscreen and headlight damage to $0. You can save between 15-25%
per day by pre-paying Rentnewcars compared to paying for it directly
at the depot.
The details below are for fully pre paid bookings using our payment
Option 3. Pre-payment of this excess reduction is not available
on some speciality vehicles, however this will be advised during your
quote process.
Exceptions for 21-24 YEAR OLDS:
Europcar Rentals: Drivers 21 & 22 years old cannot reduce their damage liability
excess, drivers 23-24 years are permitted to reduce the excess.
Thrifty Rentals: All drivers 21- 24 years can reduce their damage liability excess, however they do pay $16.50 per
day under age surcharge with Thrifty.
SINGLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT LIABILITY FEE
A Single Vehicle Accident (SVA) means an incident in which:
(a) no other motor vehicle is involved (e.g rollovers,
collisions with animals, trees, pedestrians etc)
(b) another motor vehicle is involved
BUT: - that other motor vehicle or its driver has not been identified to us or at the time of
the incident the other vehicle was stationary.
Europcar includes this SVA in the normal insurance, however with Thrifty if you do not take out the TPP Insurance,
A single vehicle accident (SVA) excess of $1650 will apply to your reservation in addition to the normal $2750.

PLEASE NOTE:
Check the insurance conditions on your credit card as some cards
may include some types of insurance at no extra cost. Coverage
is not provided for damage incurred on unsealed roads, driving
above the snow line, damage due to water immersion, overhead
or undercarriage damage.

CANCELLATION
- Cancellations received before payment will incur no fee.
- Cancellations/No shows after payment has been made incur a $30 fee or deposit amount
if less than $30.
- Deposit is non-refundable once the rental has started.
- Balance portion of a deposit only booking is refundable for unused
days via the return depot.
- Fully prepaid bookings are non-refundable once the rental has started & No refunds provided for un-used days.
- In addition to the above fees Thrifty will charge $110 cancellation
for any speciality vehicle not cancelled 48 hours prior to pickup.
*Refunds due from amendments will not
be processed until after the rental has begun, for cancellations the refund
will be processed within one week of the cancellation request.
E-VOUCHER/CONFIRMATION DOCUMENTATION
- We will email you an E-voucher/Confirmation (electronic voucher/Reservation details) for
your car rental. This document must be printed and presented
to the car rental company upon collection of the vehicle.
- RentNewCars are not responsible for car rentals not provided upon
the basis of the non-presentation of this E-Voucher supplied, although
we will naturally do anything we can to assist you.
AMENDMENTS
- You can make up to 2 amendments to your booking free of charge. Any
subsequent amendments will incur a fee of 10% from Rentnewcars
- Amending or Altering Rental Details (other than contact details) of
a Confirmed booking may change the original quoted rate, including negating
any discount given for early booking.
- Rentals which have been pre paid may not be amended once the vehicle
has been picked up. No refund is issued for un-used days.

True Quotes Promises that your final corrected*
payment will be the same as what we quoted - and if we are wrong then
we will refund you DOUBLE difference to your credit card.
*NOTE: Once any depot charged errors have been reversed. We will require
a copy of the rental agreement issued at the depot to accompany any claims,
showing the final price charged.
A 3% stamp duty/admin fee is charged by the depots on any optional extra's and applicable surcharges i.e. one way,
baby seat, underage, and will not be reflected on your confirmation total or form part of the true quote promise.
All depots have surcharges on credit card payments these differ from 1.7% up to 4.5% depending on the card used and
will not be reflected on your confirmation or form part of the true quote promise.

True Quotes Include:
- Prices are all in Australian dollar (AUD) and based on a 24 hour hire
period. Minimum 1 day hire with Thrifty and minimum 2 day hire Europcar.
- Different rates apply to Eastern States, South Australia and Perth
compared to Northern Territory/ Western Aust. above Carnarvon. Detailed
prices given in Quote.
- Unlimited kilometres for all standard vehicles in Metro locations.
Country and remote locations and speciality vehicles 100km-200km/day.

- Free one way rentals for most major cities when minimum days are reached.

- Local taxes -GST & government stamp duty
- Standard comprehensive insurance with applicable excess.
Airport Pickup Fees are calculated into all quotes. Options given to
prepay
- Phone bookings may incur a 5% service charge. Please use web

*Please note that all depots now charge a credit card surcharge of between 1.1% up to 3.85% and
this cannot be reflected on your quote from Rentnewcars as an unknown.
MULTI-HIRE
DAYS
Add up your rentals days and SAVE up to 20% on normal rates with our Multi
Hire Days.
Example: Sydney 5 days + Brisbane 12 days + Melbourne 5 days = 22 Multi
Hire Days
You would save AU$172 on a compact Corolla providing the multiple car
rentals for dates do not overlap, you fully pre pay for all bookings 72
hours from the time of booking, and each rental is minimum of 3 days and
the total of all rentals is at least 7 days - and all rentals must be
with the same company.
Simply make each booking individually and select the total amount of
days in the drop down menu at the bottom of the quoting system.
Your quote will then be calculated at the lowest possible rate in front
of your eyes.
EUROPCAR: Multi Hire Days ; does not apply to some vehicles,
especially Luxury and Sports Vehicles and must be for the same driver
each time. True Quotes
will notify you if the vehicle you have selected can or can't be part
of Multi Hire Days;
THRIFTY: Available Australia Wide all vehicles with minimum of 3 days per rental and total of all rentals 7 days minimum

One-way rentals are permitted using limited vehicle choices between major
east coast cities in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia
and the Capital Territory (not from Perth). Rentals between regional and

VEHICLE
REGISTRATION RECOVERY FEE/LICENSING FEE (VRRF/VLF)
Thrifty and Europcar both charge this fee to all rentals as a daily amount.
The exact amount is shown on your "instant quote" in detail.
These fees are subject to change.
This fee can be only be pre-paid if you are selecting payment Option
3. All other payment options will only allow this fee to be paid at the
depot directly and will be subject to 3% Stamp duty and Airport surcharge.
STAMP DUTY/ADMINISTRATION FEE
Stamp duty, also referred to as Admin fee is payable to the depot and is not reflected on your E-Voucher confirmation. Fully pre-paid reservatioins (Payment Option 3) are exempt from
this surcharge with the exception of any items which MUST be paid directly to the depot. i.e. One way surcharge, Child seat.
Europcar charge 3% on any amount paid directly to the depot (this is in addition to any applicable Airport surcharge)
Thrifty charge 3% too but they charge you on the TOTAL amount of your rental (so including any amounts you have pre paid to Rentnewcars)
CREDIT CARD SURCHARGES
Rentnewcars.com.au does not have any credit card surcharges for amounts PRE PAID to us.
Europcar and Thrifty at a branch or depot level DO have in place a Credit Card Surcharge which is between 1.7% up to
4.5% depending on the type of card. (this is surcharged on all amounts you pay at the depot directly)
Why not take our All Inclusive Payment Option 3 and pre pay your rental and excess reduction to avoid the surcharge?? (You will
still have to pay any one way, baby seat and age surcharges directly which will incur the credit card fee)

The airport recovery fees (ARF- Europcar PLS- Thrifty) are for the airport
authority and merely collected by the car rental companies, the rates are subject to

Additional extras i.e. child seat, one way fees and age

PLEASE NOTE: If you wish
to avoid the Airport Recovery Fees you have the following option.
Arrange to collect the vehicle from the City Depot or alternatively catch
a taxi to a depot nearest the airport: Alexandria (Sydney), Tullamarine (Melbourne)
etc depots are within 10 minutes by taxi of the airport
terminals.
HOTEL
DELIVERY
Europcar Hotel Deliveries are on a case by case
basis, they are not given to all rentals due to the limited staff on hand
to physically deliver vehicles and service the depots.
Thrifty will deliver your vehicle to any hotel/motel/apartment within
a 10km radius of a depot (except airport depots).
Please specify the accommodation
name, address and PHONE CONTACT in the comments section of the reservation
request.
Please note that occasionally hotel deliveries cannot be provided due
to volume of deliveries on a particular day, however you will be advised
of this at the time of confirmation and definately prior to pickup.
CONDITIONS:
- Minimum hire of 3 days
- Mondays to Fridays only 9am-4pm only
- NO DELIVERIES ON WEEKENDS OR PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
- Pre paid bookings only - not done on deposit only bookings
- Only standard vehicles delivered not Specialty or Luxury
- Europcar bookings only - a staff member from the depot will call you
to confirm your credit card details for the bond, therefore a contact
phone number is compulsory.
CHILD
SEATS
Forward facing child seats are able to be requested from most locations
from $7.70 per day with a maximum of $77.00 per hire with Europcar and $5.50/day max $33.00 with Thrifty.
Europcar do have rear facing seats and Booster Seats but not at all locations, our consultants
will let you know if not available. Thrifty only have forward facing 5 point harness child seats.
Australia has strict laws governing compulsory restraining of infants/toddlers whilst travelling

VEHICLES
& BREAKDOWN SERVICE
- All vehicles are new models and are on average just 6-8 months old.
- All vehicle descriptions, images and specifications are subject to
change and availability without notice.
- In some cases an alternative vehicle is offered in the same class,
we refer to this as "or similar" on our rates and cars page.
Both companies reserve the right to substitute a vehicle based on availability.
- Please take extreme care when choosing your vehicle that it will in
fact be large enough to fit the proposed number of passengers and luggage
as this is ultimately your responsibility.
Both companies have a 24-hour breakdown service in every state and territory
throughout Australia. Replacement vehicles are provided if the vehicle
is unable to be repaired on the spot.
DRIVER
MINIMUM AGE & LICENCE
You must be at least 21 years of age to rent a car from Europcar and
Thrifty, and must have held the license for 12 months minimum.
To be eligible to hire you may not have been convicted of an offence
relating to driving a vehicle, namely *under the influence of alcohol
or drugs or * with a blood alcohol level over any legal limit in the last
3 years. Nor are you permitted to hire if you have had any motor vehicle
insurance refused or cancelled for any reason within the three years prior
to pickup.
The driver must carry a full driver's licence from their home country,
if not in English a valid international driver's licence must accompany
the original license. This cannot be probationary or a photocopy, as long
as the normal license is valid and in English it will be accepted in Australia.
Europcar: 21-24 years and up can take the
Economy up to the Intermediate as well as the compact 4WD. Vehicles other than those
listed require a 25 year, and in some cases 28 year old driver.
For all drivers 21-24 years there is NO UNDER AGE SURCHARGE a saving of $13.20 per day
if you make your reservation on Rentnewcars.com.au.
Thrifty: 21 years - 24 years only permitted
to hire the Economy up to the Intermediate, all other vehicles the minimum
age is 25 years.
For all drivers 21-24 years there is a compulsory $16.50/day surcharge
to cover you on the insurance policy.
ADDITIONAL
DRIVERS
All bookings made through RentNewCars for Europcar include one additional driver free
of charge on each rental agreement (Additional drivers $3.50 per day approx). With Thrifty there
is no charge for any number of additional drivers, however if under 25 there is a daily age surcharge of $16.50.
Any driver not listed on the rental agreement is not covered by insurance. There is no need to advise RentNewCars
of the drivers name at the time of booking, they simply need to show their license and sign rental agreement on vehicle pickup.
TOLL ROADS
Melbourne has a network of Toll Roads which require the purchase of day
passes. This can be arranged upon vehicle pickup or visit transurban
Sydney now has an electronic toll for the Cross City Tunnel, for full details see: Cross City Tunnel
DRIVING
RESTRICTIONS & DIRT TRACKS
General conditions
Loss or damage cover is void if the vehicle is used or driven on any
unsealed or unmade road or surface. Any surface made of
dirt, gravel or sand falls into the category of unsealed road.
The only exception is the Europcar full size 4WD vehicle and the compact size
4WD (excludes Subaru Impreza and all Audi models) which may only be used on unsealed roads
if the particular roads are gazetted or mapped. This means roads
that are maintained by councils and includes unsealed roads.
These vehicles
may not be used "off road" areas such as beaches, sand dunes,
desert, dry riverbeds etc. Any damage sustained whilst the vehicle is
incorrectly used will result in the renter being liable for all damage
and recovery costs.
- Loss or damage cover is void if vehicle is taken off mainland Australia
or whilst being transported across any waterway.
- Overhead and undercarriage damage, including tyre and rim damage,
is not covered by loss or damage cover.
- All drivers of the vehicle must be nominated at the commencement of
the rental.
- Tyre and windscreen cover is not available for any vehicle type when
the rental originates in Western Australia, nor is it included for Thrifty
4WD's.
General conditions
YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED TO USE THE VEHICLE FOR THE FOLLOWING:
- To propel or tow any vehicle (not being a trailer), or to propel or tow any trailer with a load in excess of the capacity of the trailer, towing mechanism or Vehicle. Carry equipment on roof racks or the roof of the vehicle.
- To carry any animal or pet
- For racing, pacemaking, reliability trials or hill climbing, or being tested in preparation for those purposes
- To carry any greater load, number of persons or for use in a manner or for a purpose for which the Vehicle was not designed and constructed or to carry any greater number of persons than the Vehicle has seat belts.
- To carry persons for hire or reward or to carry any inflammable, explosive or corrosive materials. To carry any greater load, number of persons or for use in a manner or for a purpose for which the Vehicle was not designed and constructed or to carry any greater number of persons than the Vehicle has seat belts.
- Be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or have a blood alcohol content that exceeds the legal limit in the Country, State or Territory in which the Vehicle is driven; or refuse to take a breath or blood test in the Country, State or Territory in which the Vehicle is driven use the Vehicle to carry any inflammable substance which has a flash point under 23°C or any other explosive or corrosive substances.
- operate or permit the Vehicle to be operated in breach of any legislation, regulations, rules or by laws relating to road traffic and use.
Thrifty
You are not permitted to take any vehicle to:
- Kangaroo Island (unless hire begins in Adelaide- restrictions still
apply to which roads. If other location permission required)
- Fraser Island on Rentnewcars rates.
- Into or out of the Northern Territory, Tasmania or any points in Western
Australia North of Carnarvon (unless approved)
- On any unsealed road (being a road not sealed with a hard material such as tar, bitumen or concrete)
unless the Vehicle is a 4WD in which case it may also be used on graded unsealed roads. No Vehicle
(including 4WDs) may be used on off road conditions. Off road conditions include but not is limited to fire
trails, beaches, sand, tracks, fields or paddocks.
- On beaches or through streams, dams, rivers or flood waters (or flood
prone roads or where police have issued warning or caution)
(No vehicle including any 4WD may be used in an off road conditions. Off road conditions include but is not limited to:
Fire trails, beaches sand, tracks, fields or paddocks)
- Above the snow line being either the entrance to national parks in which snow falls or areas in which snow chains
are required to be fitted (by the relevant authority). All coverage is limited to sealed roads or designated car parks,
which are within the National Park. Snow Season is approximately from June to October. Participating locations are:
Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Cooma and Albury.
Snow cover Conditions:
- All snow chain damage is excluded
- A compulsory $22/day surcharge is payable at the depot directly and is in addition to the standard excess reduction,
age surcharges, local taxes etc. This covers vehicles travelling above the snow line as well as eliminating the snow
damage liability.
Europcar
You are not permitted to take any vehicle to:
- Fraser Island
- Into or out of the Northern Territory or any points in Western Australia north of Carnarvon (unless approved)
- In the Northern Territory, south of Katherine to the South Australian border, outside local towns and city precincts between sunset and sunrise.
- In Queensland Cape York. Beyond Chillagoe or Georgetown in a westerly direction. Beyond Cape Tribulation or Laura in Northerly (standard vehicles) or beyond Cooktown or Laura if a full size 4WD.
- On the road from Jim Jim Falls to Twin Falls
- North of Maggieville
- On unsealed roads north and west of Mt Isa
- On the Bloomfield track; on the Savannah Way; on the Tanamai Track; Strzelecki Track, Oodnadatta Track
- The Simpson Desert, n the Gynbarrel Highway
- On the Warburton Route, Tanami Track, On the Kalumbru Road, Cape Leveque
- On the Canning Stock Route
- On tracks to Lost City (Litchfield NP)
- Lennard Rover Gorge Road
- Above the snow line from 1 June until 30 October each year (unless snow cover is purchased
at the commencement of rental)
- And in No Circumstances On beaches or through streams, dams, rivers or flood waters (or flood prone
roads or where police have issued warning or any other Government authority or caution)
Travel on Ferries and Trains:
Travel on ferry services in Australia is permitted i.e. To Kangaroo Island and from mainland Australia to Tasmania and v.v. but you WILL
NOT BE COVERED by Europcar Insurance on your vehicle whilst on the Ferry. You will need to check with the Ferry company regarding
insurance coverage or take our personal travel insurance to cover these situations.
Travel on Train services is permitted and covered by insurance.
Snow Cover:
- A compulsory $24.20/day surcharge is payable at the depot directly and is in addition to the standard excess reduction insurance.
- If you travel to the snow fields without purchasing the Snow Coverage you will be liable for all costs associated with any accident or incident.
- Snow chains can be supplied and fitted independantly however chain damage is not covered by Europcar Insurance and the depots do not have
a hiring service available.
DISCLAIMER
OF LIABILITY
- The information that we provide on our website is supplied to us by
both car rental companies and is always subject to change without notice,
therefore we cannot accept responsibility for any changes beyond our
control.
- Upon collection of your vehicle you enter into a direct contract with
the car rental company and in the event of any issues, problems, queries,
concerns or complaints they should be directed to the individual car
rental companies. However RentNewCars offers a very comprehensive back
up and customer service facility and we will assist you in any way we
possibly can to resolve any complaints or overcharges you should not
incur.
