- Never scuba dived before? Then Airlie is the perfect place to do an introductory course. The beautiful underwater attractions nearby make it a worthwhile investment, and its a useful qualification to have.
- Many charters run out to the Great Barrier Reef, one of the natural wonders of the world. Experience the colours, the coral and the fish for yourself on a day trip out.
- A half hour drive from town lies the Cedar Creek Falls. The pristine Cedar Creek flows over a steep rock face into a large rock pool that is popular amongst swimmers. The falls are very impressive after a heavy rainfall.
- Airlie is the gateway to the Whitsundays, and there is so much to discover amongst these 74 islands. A sailing trip is the ultimate way to do this, where you can enjoy seeing the sights and meeting other travellers.
- Whitehaven Beach is one of the top ten beaches in the world, and is even visible from space. Take a day charter out here and bask on the brilliant white sands. Hill Inlet is just around the corner and is definitely worth a look.

- Inland of Airlie lies Lake Proserpine, also known as the Peter Faust Dam. Stocked regularly with barramundi, it is a favourite haunt amongst fishermen and boaters. Enjoy catching and cooking your dinner!
- Sundown cruises leave Abel Point Marina every evening. A tour of the magnificent yachts harboured in the marina and then of the Airlie coastline is a great way to end your day, especially with a drink in hand.
