Ten Things To Do In The Barossa Valley
- The Barossa Valley is one of the leading wine production regions in Australia. To see what all the fuss is about, go on a tour of the cellar doors of the wineries and taste the local produce.
- Clonlea Recreation Park is a great place to spend your Sunday. There are two tennis courts here, an oval, barbecue facilities and picnic areas. The wide open spaces give the kids lots of room to play.
- A visit to Maggie Beer's Farm Shop has become something of a tradition amongst visitors to the Barossa Valley. Enjoy coffee, a drink or a meal here, and pick up some of the shops range of products.
- An inspiring and colourful place to visit, the Chateau Barossa is surrounded by 30 000 rose bushes and has a large collection of tapestries and paintings. There is a wine shop and a museum here too.
- For the best views in the Valley go to the Mengler Hill Lookout. Here you will truly be able to appreciate the rolling countryside and the lush wineries of the Barossa Valley.
- Tanunda is a quaint town in the heart of the Barossa. It still maintains elements of the regions German heritage, and is home to some beautiful Lutheran churches.
- Every Saturday in Anguston the Barossa Farmers Market is held. Here you can buy only the freshest farm produce and meats, and they serve a great breakfast too!
- Vintage aircraft and car displays, music exhibitions and fine food are all a part of the Barossa Vintage Festival. Held annually every April, this is an exciting event to combine your visit with.
- The Kaiser Stuhl Conservation Park is a 400 ha conservation park near to Tanunda. There are no facilities but it is popular amongst bushwalkers, with large rocky outcrops and old trees.
- The Whispering Wall is the retaining wall for the Barossa Reservior. Because of its shape it allows sound to travel long distances, so whispering one end can be heard at the other.
