Ten Things To Do Close To Cheltenham
- Port Willunga is a quiet seaside town 50 kilometres south of Adelaide. Friendly people and beautiful beaches, when the tide goes out there is an old shipwreck you can walk up to and explore.
- At the southern end of Adelaide lies Sellicks Beach, an isolated white sandy beach bordered by high toffee-coloured cliffs. There are few facilities but its a great place to get away from it all.
- Visit the Barossa Valley, one of Australia's leading wine tourism areas. Enjoy sampling the wines of the region from the numerous cellar doors, then spend some time in one of the cosy towns in this fertile valley.
- The leafy Adelaide Oval is one of the prettiest cricket grounds in the world. If you are lucky enough to catch a game here then do so, if not then still go for a tour of the stadium and grounds.
- Adelaide is built on the Port Adelaide River, and this provides plenty of opportunity for fun and relaxation. Spend the day fishing or canoeing, and then enjoy a sunset river cruise with a drink in hand.
- In a city of churches its hard to choose one to visit, but St. Nicholas Parish is definitely a good option. Its white walls contrast with the blue domes and gold spires to create a traditional and dazzling effect.
- For some respite from the hustle and bustle of the city, head to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and relax amongst the green lawns, tall exotic trees and colourful flower beds.
- It may be summertime, but theres always snow at Mount Thebarton! Adelaide's indoor ski slope is covered in 200 tonnes of snow. Its a great place for beginners or experts, and theres also an ice skating rink.
- Moana Beach is a picturesque beach close to plenty of attractions on the Fleurieu Peninsula. Popular amongst surfers, this is a great place to come and visit with the family.
- The Adelaide Zoo is a great daytrip for kids and adults alike. Animals from all over the world are housed in large enclosures resembling their natural habitats. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained as well.
