Ten Things To Do Close To Dalby
- The Crossing is the most historically important part of the town. This is where the
first human settlement in the region occured, and there is a memorial here
commemorating this.
- The Pioneer Park Museum has a number of interesting buildings, including a well
preserved blacksmiths shop. On display are collections of old farm equipment, some
of it nearly 150 years old!
- A large and attractive reserve with good stands of native trees and bushes,
Thomas Jack Park is an ideal stopping place for travellers passing through the town.
There are picnic facilities here.
- Half an hour north of Dalby lies the Bunya Mountains, which are the last
significant stand of bunya pine in Queensland. There are marked bushwalking trails
and camping grounds in the mountains.
- The Heritage Walking Trail will take you on a pleasant walk around some of
Dalby's historic buildings, homes and churches. Its a good way to learn the history of
the area and get some exercise!
- Lake Broadwater is the only naturally occurring body of water on the Darling
Downs. A fishing hotspot, it is also popular amongst windsurfers, day-trippers,
campers, bush walkers and bird watchers.
- You really should visit Jimbour House to appreciate the stately architecture of
this gracious historical home. Recently a vineyard has been established here, and you
can sample the wines at the cellar door.
- The Jondaryan Woolshed is the oldest operating woolshed in Queensland, and
celebrates the rural heritage of the area. Agricultural exhibitions and displays take
place here regularly.
- The Rimfire Winery is renowned for the diverse range of wines it produces. These
include many rare varieties, all grown in the Rimfire vineyard and produced on site.

- Dalby Regional Art Gallery is an important cultural centre for the region, and
displays a wide variety of travelling exhibitions as well as exhibitions with works from
local artists.
